Everybody thought Baba gave an indication of His passing away
In 1916, on Vijayadashmi day (Dasara), Shri Sai Baba at once got into wild rage. He started abusing people who had assembled in Dwarakamai. Fire in Dhuni also was raging higher and higher in the same proportion as of Baba’s angry disposition. Along with the fire in Dhuni, Shri Sai Baba’s rage too ascended. Entire Dwarkamai was lit up with the light from Dhuni. By now Baba was charged with fury. He removed the cotton cloth tied to his head and threw it in Dhuni. Suddenly the fire flames rose higher. Baba removed his Kafni and threw the same in Dhuni, flames rose higher so much so that people feared that Dwarkamai may catch fire. Baba’s anger was reaching its peak. He stood in front of people in that angry frame of mind and in a fraction of a second he removed his “Langot”(loin cloth) and threw the same into raging Dhuni. He had thus become “DIGAMBER”(nude) and stood in front of people in that form. He then shouted at them and told them to look at his body and decide for themselves and ascertain whether he was Hindu or a Muslim. All present in Dwarkamai were taken aback. Baba’s shouts and flames from Dhuni were soaring high and throwing colossal amount of illumination. Outside there was severe lightening and thunder. It was time for villagers returning from the border after finishing a ritual called “Seemollanghan” (crossing of the border or limits of the village). Baba’s shouts were heard by all as he kept shouting aloud. They trembled with fear and none dared to go near Baba. Bhagoji Shinde, the leper devotee approached Baba and asked lovingly “Baba what is all this? Today all villagers are rejoicing.” Saying these words Bhagoji tied the Langot around Shri Sai Baba. As Baba was still in rage, he took his Satka (stick) and struck it on ground and shouted “this is my Seemollanghan (crossing of border)”.
